It was an exciting weekend for us at BUMP this past weekend.
And we would like to thank everyone at the dealer level and the participant level that supported our event.
From the County of Barrhead's perspective, you can't even tell we had a race. County roads & ditches were not ripped up, and basically zero garbage left.
Off-road riding has been a problem in Barrhead County, after this event they're looking forward to us to actively develop our off-road riding facility. Along with this, hopefully help off-road riders understand accountability and sustainability.
Thank you to all.

Chris' latest MRI
After Chris' last MRI in September, we were very happy of course….but reserved. We didn't want to celebrate too early, just in case.
Well….LET'S PARTY!!!! We got the results from his MRI last Monday and it's CLEAN once again. I think it might be safe to say that we are winning this battle.
After 3-1/2 years of cancer consuming our every waking (and sleeping) thought, we can finally focus on living normal lives.
Thank you all for the firm foundation of friendship and support that you have given us throughout this nightmare; now let's put this behind us and have FUN.

Update on Chris' Health
Although our most apprehensive test result was last month when we were
waiting for Chris' brain MRI (which was clean); we were also holding our
breath to see what this last test result would present. We had an appt
last week with our oncologist to get the results of a bone scan and scan
on Chris' liver and lungs. Although there never was an issue with his
bones or liver, melanoma typically goes to the lymph nodes, liver,
lungs, bones, and brain so our oncologist just wants to make sure it
hasn't metastized elsewhere. His bones and liver are both clean and of
the 2 spots on his lungs, one remains unchanged at .5 cm (and it has
never changed) so they're calling it benign. The second spot (which has
progressively gotten bigger every time we've tested it - from 1.5 to 1.8
to 2.0 to 2.5) is actually shrinking! We are so excited! Even several
people have commented on how good he looks (apparently he was quite gray
this summer but he's pink again).
We are not ready to back off on any of his treatments yet, but for the
first time throughout this nightmare, we are seeing a light at the end
of the tunnel. We are starting to think beyond tomorrow. We are really
looking forward to Christmas because we have so much to celebrate; and
we're looking forward to not letting cancer dominate every conversation
and thought.
We've got another brain MRI booked for early February and abdominal scan
for April.
Thanks again for your thoughts and support.

2007 Hare Scramble and Cross Country AGM Minutes
Sheraton Cavalier – Calgary, AB
October 13, 2007
The meeting was called to order at 11:20 am by the mediator, Lee Ready.
The introduction of the off road committee members, the club representatives, the ADRA President, the current ADRA office administrator and the new ADRA office administrator was done.
TROPHIES
There was discussion about using plaques instead of trophies for the adult riders. Tags would be awarded for each race. The rider would attach the tag to the plaque. A rider would end up with one plaque at the end of the season vs. many trophies. The kids would still receive the regular trophies.
Motioned by Renee Turner and seconded by Heather Nelson that this issue be tabled for discussion by the ORC (off road committee).
PASSED
OFF ROAD ARTICLES FOR MAGAZINES
There was discussion about who would be the person to write the off road articles.
Motioned by Suzanne Viinika and seconded by Jen Marshall that Suzanne Viinika be the person to write articles and events correspondence and that her name be put on the ADRA website.
PASSED
OFFROAD ADMINISTRATOR PROPOSAL
There was discussion about the fact that Renee Turner would be ideally suited for the job because of her extensive XC and HS experience, the duties involved and the fact that the same person doing the administration for each race would provide consistency throughout the season.
Motioned by Heather Nelson and seconded by Andrew Blakely that the ADRA award the position of off road administrator to a qualified individual as proposed.
PASSED
Motioned by Heather Nelson and seconded by Jen Marshall that Renee Turner be awarded the off road administrator position for the 2008 season.
PASSED
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO RUN AN EVENT
There was a discussion initiated about clubs failing to meet the minimum criteria to run an event. For example, not providing enough volunteers.
Motioned by Dennis Kaltenbruner and seconded by Cheryl Wood that a disclaimer be added to the bottom of the event package form to be signed by the club. The motion was amended to a disclaimer be added to the bottom of the event package form, to be signed by the club, stating that failure to comply with the minimum guidelines, as determined by the ORC, will result in a $125/day administration fee payable to the ADRA.
PASSED
FRAUDULENT LICENSING AND RESULTS REPORTING
There was discussion about clubs entering first time local riders and allowing them to purchase a CMRC license, then after the event, ripping up the licence application and reimbursing the money to the rider. Awards were given out according to the results on race day but were adjusted prior to them being sent to the ADRA head office.
Cheryl Wood motioned and Lee Ready seconded that the ORC send a letter to every club stating that the fraudulent activity did not go unnoticed and, should it happen again, disciplinary action will be taken against the offending club.
PASSED
CMRC DAY LICENSE
There was discussion about riders who will only be riding one event, such as local club riders, being able to purchase a $40 CMRC day license. Over the 2007 season, many of these particular riders voiced their concern that an $80 event license was too expensive for one event. $30 would go to CMRC for AD & D insurance and $10 would go to the ADRA.
Bob Reed motioned and Mike Dobovich seconded to have a $40 CMRC day license.
PASSED
There was also discussion about a rider receiving no points if a day license is purchased.
It was motioned that no points be tallied if a rider purchases a day license. The motion was defeated.
2008 REGISTRATION FEES
Renee Turner motioned and Andrew Blakely seconded that the registration fees for 2008 be standardized to $25 for kids and $45 for adults for HS and XC and that there be no club discount.
PASSED
BARCODE SCORING SYSTEM
Mike Dobovich and Andrew Blakely each gave a presentation detailing the system. One of the members described his experience with the system. The general consensus was that it would be very beneficial.
Motioned by Mike Dobovich and seconded by Dennis Kaltenbruner that Mike Dobovich create a complete proposal for a barcode scoring system to be paid for by rider levy and initially financed by the ADRA and that the ORC present the proposal at the ADRA AGM on Oct. 27, 2007.
PASSED
Motioned by Andrew Blakely and seconded by Renee Turner to increase the rider levy by $2. Bob Reed motioned and Andrew Blakely seconded to amend the motion to increase the rider levy by $2 only if the ADRA finances the initial cost.
PASSED
Motioned by Jen Marshall and seconded by David Sheridan that the ORC do a general review of the XC and HS rules with respect to the proposed barcode scoring system.
PASSED
POINTS GIVEN TO RACERS WHO PROMOTE/VOLUNTEER TO PUT ON RACES
There was discussion about this not being in the 2007 HS rules. Volunteer support is a huge problem. This is a good way to reward those who volunteer.
Motioned by John Bader and seconded by Dennis Kaltenbruner to give points to racers who promote or volunteer to put on HS races, one event per year, same as XC.
PASSED
There was discussion about changing the number of points given to a racer.
Egbert Schutter motioned that the ORC look at the volunteer reward points system and come up with a proposal to be presented at the 2008 AGM. The motion was defeated.
Dennis Kaltenbruner motioned and Egbert Schutter seconded that the ORC address the volunteer reward points system to be implemented for the 2008 season.
PASSED
PROPOSAL FOR A NEW SERIES FORMAT
The proposal by Lee Ready was handed out.
Motioned by Lee Ready that his series format proposal be adopted. The motion was defeated.
CLASS ADVANCEMENT RULE CLARIFICATION
The proposal by Lee Ready was handed out.
Motioned by Lee Ready and seconded by John Bader that the proposed clarification of the wording of the rules be adopted.
PASSED
VOLUNTEERING TO EARN PROVINCIAL AWARDS
There was discussion about whether or not the objective of this rule was met. It was agreed that the rule served its purpose.
Motioned by Renee Turner and seconded by Mike Dobovich to keep this the same for the 2008 season.
PASSED
LETTER TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE ADRA
This letter referred to the 2007 series format. There was discussion about the letter being acknowledged by the ORC.The ORC feel that they were at fault because they failed to communicate the series format change to the ADRA office so it could be changed on the website. The ORC vowed to be more diligent in the future.
UPDATE ON ISDE
The ISDE will be held in Chile in Nov. 2007. Check the website at www.isde07.com
SOAB ENDURO CROSS SERIES
Trevor Turner explained how the series will work. It will be an independent series. There will be 3 rounds.
2008 RACE SCHEDULE
The race dates were determined for 2008. There will be 6 HS races and 2 XC races as well as a 3 round SOAB Enduro Cross Series. See the schedule on www.albertadirtriders.com for dates and venues.
LAND USE ISSUES
There was discussion about how the ADRA will help the off road community with land use issues.
It was suggested that a notice be put on the ADRA website.
Motioned by Suzanne Viinika and seconded by Dennis Kaltenbruner that Suzanne will design a pamphlet for “responsible riding awareness” to be included in the mail out of 2008 license applications, printed, triple folded and delivered to the ADRA office to be forwarded to the CMRC head office before Dec. 31, 2007.
MEETING ADJOURNED AT 3:30 PM

Bikes Found
My son, Keylan, found two
dirt
bikes in the irrigation canal by our home and it is highly likely they were
stolen and dumped. I have contacted the Police, but so far they have
showed
little interest, so thought I might start enquiring if anyone has reported
them missing. We have only pulled one of them out and it is a 2002 Honda
XR200. The other “appears” to be a Yamaha but we haven’t pulled it out. I
was hoping the Police would take care of that. Both have been totally
submerged in the water and may not be much good now, but we had a bike
stolen a couple years ago and we would really have wanted to find it
regardless. I’m thinking this could be the same. The bike looks to have
been
in reasonable shape before it went in the water, so I wouldn’t think it
would be someone dumping it in the canal because they were too cheap to
take
it to the dump. There are no plate numbers on the bike, but I do have the
serial number. So, if anyone has reported it, you could give them my
phone
number (403) 279-1809.
Thanks, Kirby Meston

The prizes will be taken to the Edson H/S this coming weekend and a copy of this prize list will
be on hand. Any remaining prizes can be claimed by contacting Micheal Dobovich at
