The Lethbridge Motorcycle Club working with the National Trails Coalition (NTC) would like to announce the completion of Trail Inventory and Mapping of single track trails in the Beaver Creek region of the Bow Crow Forest.
The Lethbridge Motorcycle Club was established in 1952 and incorporated as a non-profit society in 1962. The club started strictly as a road club and held road events. The focus turned in 1968 to dirt type riding and events. Today the Lethbridge Motorcycle Club is a volunteer-based organization that offers something for every motorcycle enthusiast from street to dirt.
The Lethbridge Motorcycle Club has been hosting Cross Country and Harescramble events in the Bow Crow Forest for over 30 years. Each event is managed with the greatest respect possible for the environment. The proper permits are garnered and club members who each have more than 15 years experience with respect to trail riding, ribbon the trails. When the events are over, a sweeping of the trails is done to remove all the ribbons, repair any areas in need, and collect any refuse. The Lethbridge Motorcycle Club and its members have realized from the first race event ever held, if respect is not shown for the areas we frequent for race events or for recreational riding, the land and trails would deteriorate to a point that riding would not be possible or allowed. The Lethbridge Motorcycle Club are dedicated stewards of the area they frequent and take pride of ownership towards the area.
Every effort is being made to keep single track trails open for public use, not only for the motorcycle enthusiast, but also for hikers, hunters, horseback riders, and mountain bikers. The Lethbridge motorcycle Club used funding from the National Trails Coalition and the Alberta Off Highway Vehicle Association to complete the mapping project.
Working with the National Trails Coalition the Lethbridge Motorcycle Club has taken a positive step towards maintaining and preserving single track trails in the Beaver creek region of the Bow Crow Forest. The maps and inventory have been released to the SRD for future use and publication.

Top End Promotions Inc. (Gerry and Heather Nelson) have been hosting the Western Canadian Amateur National Motocross Championships (WCAN) at Temple Hill Motorcycle Park since its inception in 1998. The time has come, Gerry and Heather have decided to retire from the event. In doing so they want to thank the riders, sponsors, volunteers, the Lethbridge Motorcycle Club and the Over the Bars Club, who all have helped over the past 12 years to make this event a reality and the highlight of each racing season. The annual event gave Temple Hill Motorcycle Park the recognition it deserved as one of the top ranked tracks in Canada.
To that end, to continue the legacy of Temple Hill and in the spirit of a Club atmosphere, the Lethbridge Motorcycle Club and the Over the Bars Club are excited to announce that together, they are taking over the management and hosting of the Western Canadian Amateur National Motocross Championships, starting this year with the 13th Annual WCAN, June 30, July 1-3, 2010.

Edmonton and Calgary residents invited to learn about Bill 36, the Alberta Land Stewardship Act
Events scheduled for Edmonton, May 12, and Calgary, May 14
Edmonton… Keen to talk about the most comprehensive land-use planning approach ever advanced in our province and how it applies to Alberta’s major urban areas?
The Government of Alberta will host open houses in Edmonton and Calgary to provide people in Alberta’s two largest cities the opportunity to learn about Bill 36, the Alberta Land Stewardship Act (ALSA), and how it will support the Land-use Framework.
During consultations about the Land-use Framework, Albertans said they want government to provide leadership in land-use planning. Bill 36 creates the authority for regional plans to meet the unique needs of each region under the Land-use Framework.
The unique needs of Alberta’s two major urban areas are currently being considered through the Capital and Calgary metropolitan plans, immediate priorities under the framework. Both plans are scheduled to be completed this year. Edmonton is part of the North Saskatchewan Region, while Calgary is located in the South Saskatchewan Region. The regions are aligned with Alberta’s watersheds.
“The Capital and Calgary regions face intense growth pressures related to infrastructure, transportation and patterns of development that require a more detailed planning approach,” said Sustainable Resource Development Minister Ted Morton. “Bill 36 will support sustainable growth.”
Government of Alberta staff will be available to discuss the bill and answer questions. The May 12 open house in Edmonton will be held at the Ramada Hotel and Conference Centre, Wildrose Room 3 (11834 Kingsway Avenue). The May 14 Calgary session will be held at the Greenwood Inn and Suites, Evergreen D Room (3515-26 Street NE). The open houses run from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Ride a Dirt Bike?
If you ride Off-road motorcycles of any sort you need to read this.
A large number of off-road motorcycle enthusiasts and clubs have gotten together and organized a province wide organization.
As people who ride a motorcycle with knobby tires we all face the same problems of lack of riding areas. It does not matter if you ride motocross, cross country, trail ride, trials or dual sport we all face the same problems.
Different clubs and groups all across the province are dealing with access problems and restrictions imposed on us. We need to work together and pool our resources to preserve the 2 wheel sport we
enjoy.
Alberta Society of Off-road Motorcyclists (ASORM)
- A province wide advocacy group of Off-road motorcyclists for off-road motorcyclists.
- Equally represents all forms of off-road motorcycling.
- Provides rider benefits for our members.
- Provides education.
- Provides a place to dialogue with others with the same interest.
- Provides a forum for clubs to share knowledge on access issues and solutions.
- Provides additional member benefits through membership in the
- Motorcycle Confederation of Canada (MCC).
